Director of the BioSTART to Laboratory Associates Program

Dr. Butscher received his undergraduate degree at the University of Connecticut, and his Master’s degree in Tropical Public Health at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. He later earned a doctorate in Parasitology from McGill University, then completed two post-doctoral fellowships. While at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, Dr. Butscher performed studies in autoimmune thyroiditis. His second fellowship was served at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health, where he studied molecular immunological aspects of T-cell activation.

Prior to joining BTI in 2003, Dr. Butscher worked as a Molecular Biology Applications Specialist at Perkin Elmer Life Sciences, and as a Field Applications Specialist with Compugen, Inc. He has also served as a mentor in the Meyerhoff Scholarship Program, and in the Peace Corps. Now at BTI, Dr. Butscher directs and teaches the BioSTART to Laboratory Associates Program.
