Program Breakdown

  • BioSTART, our 6-week bridge program designed to jumpstart candidates’ skills and knowledge in basic math, communications, and critical workplace skills, and to build a sense of teamwork

  • A second more intense component, the 10-week Laboratory Associates Program approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), provides the academics, conceptual and hands-on laboratory skills necessary for success.

  • After the completion of 16 weeks, graduates can secure a paid laboratory position.

Successful completers are eligible for 7 credits toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in biotechnology through an agreement with Baltimore City Community College.

Virtual Reality Technology at BTI

Essential lab skills, including pipetting, contamination control, and documentation, are taught and reinforced in every lab session to ensure success in any lab environment.

The France-Merrick Foundation has supported the introduction of BTI’s virtual reality (VR) technology to enhance recruitment and promote our ability to teach complicated hands-on skills. VR usage among students enhances learning by allowing students to interact with their lessons and experience them differently.
